A note from Victoria
I believe therapy offers a haven, a place to face what you’ve had to hide or carry alone. Together, we’ll create a collaborative space where you can heal from trauma, build healthy coping skills, make meaningful choices, and discover deeper insight about yourself. My approach is integrative and flexible, always tailored to your individual needs, strengths, and goals. I’m glad you’re here, and I look forward to working with you in this process.

Background
Victoria Romero (she/her/ella) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (#12901) and a Nationally Board Certified Counselor (#628022). She earned her undergraduate degree from George Mason University, a Master of Arts in Education from Union University, and a Master of Education in Counseling from North Carolina State University. She worked as a school counselor in Wake County Public Schools before transitioning to clinical work. As a native Spanish speaker, she provides therapeutic services in both Spanish and English. Victoria currently works with adult clients 25 and older.
Specialties
Victoria’s particular areas of interest and experience include anxiety, depression, trauma, parent/adult child relationships, grief, and supporting women through the emotional and psychological challenges of perimenopause and menopause. She is particularly interested in walking alongside clients as they navigate transitions, such as relationship changes, identity re-exploration and purpose, and the empty nest. As a former school system employee, she also enjoys working with educators and is attuned to the unique challenges faced by those working in the school system.
As a second-generation Latina, Victoria brings both personal and professional insight into how culture, family dynamics, and generational expectations shape our inner lives and mental health. Growing up between two cultures, she has a deep appreciation for the complexity of navigating identity, belonging, and acculturation, themes she explores thoughtfully with her clients.
Clinical approaches
Victoria’s counseling style is integrative, flexible, and body-informed. Although treating the mind-body connection is a relatively new approach in therapy, her goal is to create a collaborative environment where clients feel safe to explore unresolved issues and trauma stored in the body. She does this by incorporating mindfulness and grounding practices, body awareness, and traditional cognitive approaches.
Victoria is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Triple P Parenting. She has received advanced training in EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Self-Compassion.
